Despite suffering from blisters on his feet for the whole week and  being able to get in little practice,Marat went onto court for the 5th and decisive match against France with the score being 2 - 2.

Once again Marat played a superb Davis Cup match and after serving 15 aces he won the match 7/6(3) 6/3 6/2  against Paul-Henri Mathieu from France and was able to award a jubliant Russia a place in the semi finals when they will host Germany in Moscow on September 21 - 23, 2007.

This will be the second year running that Russia plays the semi finals in the Davis Cup.
Marat also won the deciding fifth rubber to give Russia the Cup title last year over Argentina in Moscow.

Marat improved his Davis Cup singles record to 19-14 and his overall Davis Cup mark to 29-18. 

Congratulations to Russia on their win and congratulations to Marat for bringing this dramatic tie to a successful win for Russia.
